YPC NAE
Janae "Ypc Nae" Dickey was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. She is the youngest of two older brothers. Growing up, Janae had a passion for basketball at a early age. By the age of six, her mother and father was divorced, forcing her mother to be a single parent. Dealing with different emotions from the struggle such as, witnessing her mom attempt suicide, multiple evictions, no lights or food and lack of having things, music became a getaway. Her lifestyle also made her feel isolated and judged by others, forcing her to put more emotions into music. After high school graduation the passion for basketball eventually faded and Nae picked back up on music. During this time she was also teaching herself how to shoot her own music videos. Her motivation in music came from her older cousin whom she look up to as a brother, Lil Brod.
Years later she became apart of the local record label company YPC, also known as "Young Paper Chasers". During this time, she's experienced so much industry like events such as, performing live for hundreds to thousands of people. Also, opening for various industry artists to doing a live radio interview, and helping give back to the homeless and the community. Realizing that there's a lot she didn't know about the music game she give thanks to YPC for allowing her to be apart of the label and showing her the ropes. On side of that, she became one of the top videographers in the city, by working hard and using it as a hustle. Last year in 2014, she released her mixtape "Its Still Perfect Timing". In 2015, she was nominated for SC female hip hop artist of the year and videographer of the year, along with other categories affiliating YPC. She took home the SC female artist of the year trophy, which was a great accomplishment. She has also been featured in a few local magazine issues. Her latest video "No Conscience" was debuted on World Star. Since the release, multiple websites has also featured the video on their website. She has a new project debuting late 2015 titled "Forever Me". This project will have plenty of emotions and untold stories. Overall, Ypc Nae would like for her music to give hope, motivation, and encourage her listeners to follow their heart. Last but not least, she always give thanks to her supporters and fans for everything they do.
